The Largest Annual Event
Bare Bones Dance Theater Annual Showcase
Bare Bones produces an annual dance showcase where undergraduate dancers & choreographers, production designers, and the community collaborate to produce a professional-quality dance experience.
We have 13 - 15 different original dance pieces to present annually, making up about 100 dance members in our annual showcase company each year!
The collection of genres in the showcase features many and everything - from contemporary, to hip-hop, to ballet, and beyond!
Join us to celebrate our 40th annual showcase with our very talented and passionate student dancers, choreographers, designers, and more
Accessible Learning Opportunity
Workshops
Bare Bones hosts various workshops on the UC Irvine campus for all current UC Irvine students and even neighboring college campuses - such as Chapman University, Cal State Fullerton, and more! There are three different workshops we host (listed below):
- Student-Led Workshops:
BBDT provides opportunities for UCI students who are interested in teaching choreography to lead a class in UC Irvine facilities under Bare Bones Dance Theater.
This two-hour session includes warm-up, teaching, and recording groups and our choreographer.
- CCMA (Collegiate Conference for Movement Artists):
The Collegiate Conference for Movement Artists aspires to create a strong sense of community within the Southern California collegiate systems.
By providing a weekend of workshops to these schools, collegians can present their works to a diversified audience and create a networking web for the future.
We truly believe that in creating a safe space for artists to share their work, we can influence and inspire each generation that continues creating.
- Professional-Led Workshop (aka Masterclass):
BBDT hosts at least one masterclass per academic quarter at a low, accessible price to take a class taught by someone within Orange County and the greater Los Angeles area.
This creates accessibility and opportunity for our UC Irvine students to gain industry knowledge of dance and network.
